Fishing Environments

From a strategic point of view, we are located minutes away from fishing areas recognized worldwide for the quality of their fish. We can visit the Limay River in three sections and three lakes.

Limay zone III

Zone III” of the Limay River, or ‘middle Limay’, is a 100% world-renowned river for the quality and fight of its trout. It is located 15 minutes from the lodge. We navigate through a section called “Zoo” with low pressure and many sectors to fish with different techniques.
Rainbow trout of 1-2 kg during the whole season: dry fly, nymph, streamer. From March until the end of the season we look for migratory brown trout, which can exceed 6 kg. They are fished with streamers. These big and powerful fish offer a unique and unforgettable experience.
They offer an unforgettable fight. This section will be open from 11/1 to 05/31.

Limay zone I

Zone I” of the Limay River, downstream from the Aguila stone dam, 30 minutes away from the lodge, offers rainbow trout of an incredible size, weighing over 6 kg. Fishing in this zone must be done exclusively with flies and, after traveling 1500 m of the river, you can be sure that you will get the rainbow trout of your life.

Chocon Lake

Lake “Exequiel Ramos Mexia” reservoir in our tourist accommodation in Villa El Chocón. This lake is home to the large migratory browns of the “Limay Medio”. Being the largest artificial lake in the country, the reservoir offers truly spectacular fishing. Rainbows and browns exceeding 4 kg are found in these waters. With a unique steppe setting, spectacular rock formations and a cliff known as “El Gigante” (over 70 meters high), guests will be blown away by the views and the fishing. Guests can fish with fly rod, spinning rod or trolling. Fishing is authorized all year round.

Piedra del Aguila Lake

The Piedra del Aguila lake, 60 minutes from our fishing lodge in Santo Tomas, offers unequaled rainbow trout fishing in the region. With weights that can exceed 6 kilos and an average weight of between 3 and 4 kilos, we assure that you will enjoy a unique and incomparable fishing day. We access it in motor boats and you can practice spinning, trolling and fly casting, the latter being the most effective. Fishing in this environment is allowed all year round.

Lower Limay zone IV

Limay River Zone IV, or “Limay Inferior”: 90 minutes from Santo Tomás lodging and only 20 minutes from Villa El Chocón tourist lodging. We float downstream from the Arroyito dam to the town of Senillosa. This is a section with more vegetation than is typical of the rest of the Limay River and offers shelter from strong winds. Guests can fish with dry attractor flies, dry nymphs, streamers, etc. Rainbow trout usually weigh 1.5 kg and brown trout can exceed 3 kg. Weight. Fishing is available in this section from November 1 to June

Pichi Picun Lake

This small lake, located 30 minutes from the lodge, offers the possibility of fishing for rainbow and brown trout, in a really beautiful environment among willows and rocks. All types of fishing can be practiced (spinning, trolling and fly casting). Fishing is possible all year round in this environment.
