Why the Name “Fario”?
The name Fario comes from the scientific name of the brown trout: Salmo trutta fario.
Originally introduced to Patagonia in the early 1900s, brown trout have thrived in the region’s cold, wild rivers and lakes for more than a century.
Today they are the true giants of the Limay River and one of the most iconic species for fly fishing in Northern Patagonia.
At Fario Fishing Lodge, the name represents our deep connection with these legendary fish and the wild waters they inhabit.
